Lord of Furnitures

Ingvar Kamprad, the one who brought affordable woodwork to every household. March 30, 1926 was the day the world destined to gain the knowledge of flat-packed furniture.

Born in his family’s farm in Elmtaryd near the village of Agunnaryd in Sweden, the legacy that he's going to imprint to world with cannot be took upon lightly as he created the biggest furniture empire the world had ever seen.

This isn't just your everyday flat-packed furniture around the block, it reduces shipping costs, minimizes transport damage, increases store inventory capacity, and makes it easier for customers themselves to take the furniture home, rather than needing delivery. The home assembly process was also streamlined by this revolutionary idea!!

This idea sprung from an employee when he needed to fit a table into his car. While He was struggling to stick the darn table with 4 protruding legs into his tiny car, in his vent of frustration... he saw off the legs of the table and reassembled them at home!!

Eventually The company bought the idea, then Presto!! IKEA's flat-packed furniture empire was born!! Simple as that!! Taking an idea and developed it to unbelievable heights!!

Oh, on the side note.. Ever wonder what does the name IKEA in uppercase represents?? ^_^

Dean of Dynamites

Dynamite, more powerful than the humble TNT, made possible to execute great engineering feats that was thought to be previously impossible and at the same time brought the mining industry out of its dark ages! How's that for a revolution!
So, who was this explosive eccentric that we're talking about? None other than the famous Alfred Nobel, the Swedish chemist with commendable entrepreneurship skills.
Dynamite was his world-changing invention. Brave souls were lost in the process of making his earth-shattering sticks-that-goes-boom.
Nitroglycerine was the main ingredient in making the dynamite. This substance is extremely volatile, being shock-sensitive material, was able to be tamed for safe-handling all thanks to his ingenuity and persistence. With the technology patented in 1867, and through his spirit of entrepreneurship, he gained an enormous amount of wealth!

When he kicked the bucket in 1864 in San Remo, Italy (hmmm tasty pasta!) He was filthy rich. Without anyway to bring along his cold hard cash into the netherworld with him, he drew up a plan to distribute his 9 million dollars in the form of prizes. Awarded to those who have conferred great benefits to mankind.
The Nobel foundation which was his greatest legacy stands today as the zenith of humanity's greatest achievements!!

Pint-size pyramids

Modern day scientists have always wondered about how did the ancient Egyptians build the greatest monument that has withstood the sands of time. Various theories from the plausible to the downright ridiculous have popped up from all around the world claiming how their own theories fit the bill.

Let us plow through the possibles and the preposterous hypothesis that has cropped up and decide for yourself.

Eratosthenes' amazing discovery!!

A multi faceted guy with a pension for maths, astronomy and geology.. beside being athletic!
Talk about multi-talented!! So, do you know who is the guy in the context?
The dude was born in Cyrene a.k.a Libya around 200B.C, ... let's fast forward to the time he made the discovery.. who cares about how he lived his life! Everyone only care about the great discoveries and deeds that one does, doesn't it?
Who knew Edison was having hearing problems when he created the Light bulb?
Who even cared that Charles Darwin was severely debilitated when he published his World changing discovery?

As I was saying... the hero in question was the first person to calculate the circumference of the earth! Without any tools, how the heck did he do that?!?! One heck of a genius! and his calculation came extremely close to the actual measured circumference of the earth using modern tools and equipment!
Stay Tuned for further exciting discovery from this Eccentric Eratosthenes!
